Dear Running: LOTS of special guests!

Dear Running,

We had a VERY special guest on our 5-mile run today.

We got to the end of our road and turned around and realized Big H. had jumped on his bike and decided to join us.  It was fun to have him along for the ride.  He did well up our monster hills, too.  It felt like a longer run, though, because I couldn't just tune out and get it done...I had to constantly be keeping an eye out since some of our route were on roads. All in all, though, a good solid run.

It's been slow, this go-around but I am feeling stronger, (FINALLY!). It's taken longer this time to build up strength and I know the second our mileage gets up there I'll be dragging a little bit.  But it's a journey, right?  I WILL get there.

And just in case I was having ANY second thoughts......THE FLIGHTS ARE BOOKED!

I shamelessly begged one of my BFF Mizz V. to join me on my marathon trip and she said YES!

We will be flying out together, staying together and coming back the next day.  She has booked everything we need!  It will be nice to have company condering I probably won't be able to WALK after the race.  PLUS she's no stranger to being at my finish line!  This is us at the end of one of my half-marathons...

We have been on countless vacations together (did I mention she won a FREE trip to MEXICO and took me?!?!) and I am SO EXCITED that she will be there to support me in this scary thing!

I have to admit I am really enjoying this training program we are doing right now. Granted, it's not as intense (YET!) as a few other programs I've done in the past and I won't be setting any TIME records with it. The mileage is a little bit less and it has a lot more muscles, stretch and cross training but my body is handling it VERY well.  I've been seeing Dr. Chiro regularily and he is very impressed with how I'm holding up.

In fact, several months ago when I wasn't running AT ALL I had a lot of problems with my hips and back.  When I started running all of my problems disappeared.  Dr. Chiro recommends that I run regularly to keep myself working properly...which is SO different then my last two chiros who told me I should cut my losses and break up with running forever.....

Looking forward to the next 9 weeks, Running!

Love,

Becka

PS.  My dad has decided that next year we will run the GREAT WALL OF CHINA Marathon.....Kill me now.....
